What can we do with our bodies to improve our brains or minds (e.g., improve our executive function, memory, mood/affect)? What can we do with our minds to affect our bodies? What can we do with our minds to improve our brains? This workshop helps participants consider and implement lifestyle changes appropriate to them. It covers (a) body-driven effects on our minds and brains, such as effects on our brains of sleep, exercise, breathing techniques, and drugs; (b) mind-driven effects on our bodies, such as the placebo effect, priming, stress, behavioral science techniques (such as commitment devices), and self-hypnosis; and (c) mind-driven effects on our brains, such as neurogenesis and neuroplasticity, establishing growth versus fixed mindsets, development of executive functions, and managing the chemical stress response.
